The project will:
COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT Frontage property line to be improved with a cast-dimensional stone wall in place of the current cyclone fence ECONOMIC IMPACT Provide easy access for the NYC ready-mix plants to obtain their cement supply. Eliminate up to 440-mile round trip bulk truck deliveries of 25-30 tons of cement per truck The location and operation of this deep-water marine terminal will allow easy access to the concrete producers in Staten Island , Brooklyn , Queens, Bronx Long Island, Westchester and Northern New Jersey. The Terminal construction will provide environmentally friendly operating equipment. Provide a guaranteed supply of cement to the market by means of a partnership and supply agreement with Cementos Lima, the owner of one of the largest cement plants in the Americas, and a major cement exporter to the United States. The cement will be delivered to the Terminal by bulk cargo ships (40,000 DWT) At full operation there will be 25-30 ship landings per year. This represents an appreciable economic impact to the local community, since each ship will be in port up to four days per stay. Please contact SIEDC for more information. |
